I’ve been wanting to do more top-down pixel art, feeling that I’ve done enough sidescrolling platformer assets.
This and NES/Game Boy styled pixel art is some stuff I’d like to do more of in some capacity.
So uhh… if anyone is up to work on something long-term, I’m here. I’ve finished all basic Today Land artwork a few months back already. Direct messages to my email if interested… or not. I don’t know.

Ah thank you! To be honest I just started getting into it as well and it’s super hard + requires a lot of problem solving… I’m sure it’s obvious but due to the limited amount of space, you have to rely on implying forms over showing ones that are complete. One way to get used to this is making basic shapes (circles, triangles) in as few pixels as you can to understand the minimum pixels required to convey them. Another way is to take an image and shrink it down to see what you can still recognise of the original through the pixels.
But it’s hard to communicate forms purely with shape so colour and shading is really important, I’ve found! With careful colour variation you can define and differentiate between similar clusters of pixels more easily. For example, I didn’t want the pixel faces to be outlined too sharply/hard so I had to use lighter shades here and there to create a subtle gradient and imply noses, necks, etc:
Every pixel is essential to the whole image, so consider your colours and shapes carefully! Hope this helps! :)
So I was gonna wait till I had this project all done before I posted these, but I’ll probably be working on it well into the new year, so here’s what I have so far; I’ve been doing black and white pixel art of some of my fave producers :>

This is how my comics for Today Land will look. Found good typefaces that can be easily read, and avoided plain backgrounds behind the panels.
Now, Today Land won’t be a 4koma/short 4 panel stories; they’ll be quite long, depending on the story and characters involved.
Development will take very long, as I have to write good copies of stories, capture scenes in pixel art, and build panels.

available until Monday on the 26th. Characters will have a single base
price, while graphic design and pixel graphics will have hourly, which
is the same base price as characters.
I have a better feeling about this one; It markets all the types of art media I can do.
I can do pixel art again, haven’t had any hand pains since I started redrawing TL back in December.
